Louisville Slugger® TPX® New BBCOR Bats Have it!

LOUISVILLE, KY (November 3, 2011)   For hitters, there’s nothing sweeter than nailing the baseball on a bat’s sweet spot.  As future Hall of Famer and 3,000 hit club member Derek Jeter says, “When you hit it right, it’s like swinging through air.  You don’t even feel it!”

For Jeter or any hitter, that’s what it’s like to hit it on The Sweetest Spot!

The good news for hitters - the new 2012 BBCOR bats from Louisville Slugger TPX have some of the largest and The Sweetest Spots of any BBCOR bats on the market.
“Louisville Slugger TPX BBCOR bats have been designed by our product innovations team to have the sweetest sweet spot in baseball,” said Louisville Slugger president Bill Clark.  “High school players have to switch to BBCOR bats in the spring.  We challenge them to give ours a try because we’re confident they’ll feel The Sweetest Spot.”

The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) changed bat performance from the old BESR standard to BBCOR starting with the spring 2012 season.  That will change the game, because new BBCOR regulations make non-wood bats (aluminum, composite and hybrid) perform very much like wood, something college players and coaches learned in 2011 when the NCAA implemented BBCOR.

“Waiting for the three-run homer to win a game in the eighth or ninth inning is mostly a thing of the past with the new BBCOR bats required by the NCAA and now the NFHS in 2012,” said Louisville Slugger TPX Director of Product Development James Sass.  “Now the little things matter most.  The emphasis in high school baseball will be on line drives and ground balls instead of long ball offense since BBCOR bats perform more like wood.  Hitters will need every edge they can get, like our very large sweet spot.”

Louisville Slugger knows what makes wood bats perform.  The company has 127 years experience designing and crafting wood bats, creating more than 8,000 different wood bat models for players from Babe Ruth to Derek Jeter.  Louisville Slugger also has the latest technology in non-wood bats; 2X Composite and S1iD in the Z-1000, Power Disc and AC21 Scandium in the Exogrid 2, and ST+20 alloy in the Omaha.

Take Louisville Slugger’s unmatched wood bat experience.  Add it with the latest non-wood bat technology.  The result - TPX BBCOR bats with The Sweetest Spots!

Z-1000:  Larger Sweet Spot.  Lighter Swing Weight.  Maximum Envy
You want the best? You got the best. The Z-1000 is made from LS-2X composite.  It uses Swing1 inner Disc (S1iD) Barrel Technology to allow the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from the first swing. This 2-5/8” barrel, -3 bat is "Game Ready" – the Z-1000's sweetest spot is ready to go right out of the wrapper.

EXOGRID2:  More barrel flex.  Greater Performance.  Bigger Advantage.
The innovative Exogrid 2 delivers power and performance through stiffness and strength, giving it one of the largest sweet spots of any BBCOR bat on the market. The combination of one-piece construction and carbon composite inserts for handle stiffness has made this bat a choice of champions.  Exogrid 2 has Power Disc Technology.  Two independent discs strategically placed in the barrel allow for peak performance around the sweet spot, providing an oversized hitting surface and balanced swing weight.  And Exogrid 2 utilizes AC21 Scandium Technology.

OMAHA:  Designed with Aerospace Aluminum.  Created for Out of this World Results.
The Omaha is far and away our most popular bat, and it's easy to see why. The Omaha's sweetest spot is powered by its ST+20 alloy, the strongest alloy available in a bat today.

WARRIOR & ARMOR:  Strength.  Performance.  Value.
Louisville Slugger TPX offers two additional BBCOR-certified bats, Warrior and Armor.  Warrior is a performance bat made from 7050 alloy.  It is complemented by the strong and durable value-priced TPX Armor.

Suggested retail for the Z-1000 (BB12Z) is $369.95; Exogrid 2 (BB12EX2) is $299.95; Omaha (BB126) is $199.95; Warrior (BB12W) is $99.95; Armor (BB12A) is $69.95. For more information, including models, lengths, weights and other features on all Louisville Slugger bats, visit www.slugger.com
