UNC FANS CAN VISIT HISTORIC LOUISVILLE SLUGGER® AND ORDER SPECIAL UNC BATS THIS WEEKEND
LOUISVILLE, KY (September 12, 2012) – North Carolina Tar Heel fans who make the trip to Louisville for the UNC vs University of Louisville football game can make it a grand slam weekend with a visit to Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory®. They’ll be immersed in great baseball history and see the working factory where bats are being made for Major League Baseball’s playoff stretch. And they’ll be as excited as a Tar Heel crossing home plate when they realize they can order a personalized North Carolina blue Louisville Slugger bat with the UNC logo. Louisville Slugger will donate $20 from the purchase of each UNC bat to the University of North Carolina Alumni Association.
"Louisville Slugger helps make players great. That’s something we’ve been doing for 128 years since we made our first bat in 1884," said the storied bat company’s specialty bat department manager, Brent Falkenstein. "Today we’re also making college alumni associations like UNC’s greater by putting money in their coffers through the sale of these unique school color and logo bats."
Louisville Slugger is an Official Licensee of the University of North Carolina and dozens of other major universities. The bat maker’s College Alumni Bat Program is aiding universities across the U.S.
"The College Alumni Bats make great gifts for anyone, including yourself if you’re a huge North Carolina fan, or fan of one of our other licensed schools," Falkenstein said. "For fans that can’t make it to Louisville this weekend, just check out our Web site for the UNC bat and order there. We’ll make the $20 donation to the UNC Alumni Association either way."
The UNC logo blue bat and other collegiate bats can be found at www.sluggergifts.com.
