LOUISVILLE, KY – (December 18, 2012) - University of North Carolina baseball, among the top five college programs in America, will once again swing Louisville Slugger® bats.
After several years with another company, the Tar Heels have signed a six-year agreement to take their cuts with BBCOR bats from baseball's leading bat maker and the Number One Bat in Major League Baseball®.

"We are very excited to reunite with Louisville Slugger," says UNC Head Baseball Coach Mike Fox who took the Tar Heels to the College World Series five of six years between 2006 and 2011, reaching the championship in 2006 and 2007.

"Our program found itself in a unique position this past fall as our players were able to swing any make or model bat they desired. It was clear after our fall season that we needed to swing Louisville Slugger exclusively. In terms of performance, service, technology and the people, it was an easy decision. Louisville Slugger is baseball bats, and we are very fortunate to be a partner with such a first-class company."

UNC Baseball is first-class as well. The Tar Heels are a perennial participant in the NCAA Tournament and College World Series and a pre-season favorite to return to Omaha in 2013. When they do, they'll be hitting line drives and home runs with the latest in bat innovation and technology: Louisville Slugger's two-piece composite ATTACK, the hybrid EXOGRID3 and the ST+20 alloy OMAHA BALANCED.

The storied and innovative diamond sports company celebrates its 129 season in baseball in 2013 and is honored to bring UNC baseball back into the Louisville Slugger family.
"We've known Coach Fox for a long time and respect him for the first class program he runs. It's a model of the type of program we want to partner with," says Louisville Slugger College Baseball Program Manager Kevin Uhrhan.

"Coach Fox has nine players in Major League Baseball right now, and we know he and his players had a lot of options. That's why we're ecstatic over the message our new partnership sends to young baseball players everywhere. Champions swing Louisville Slugger."

The Tar Heels are fully aware that the current NCAA Champion Arizona Wildcats swung Louisville Slugger bats as they pounded out hit after hit in Omaha back in June.

"Arizona has the national championship trophy. If Louisville Slugger is good enough for the University of Arizona, then it's good enough for us," Coach Fox says.
In addition to Arizona, the Tar Heels join other top collegiate programs sponsored by Louisville Slugger, including Stanford, Florida State, Rice, Baylor and Louisville.
