LOUISVILLE, KY (October 31, 2013) – Louisville Slugger, the Official Bat of Major League Baseball® and the #1 bat in MLB®, left its mark on the 2013 MLB Postseason. Starting with the ALDS and NLDS, more than 50 hitters on the final eight Postseason teams swung Louisville Slugger bats, significantly more than the number two brand.

"Louisville Slugger is the bat we saw Postseason stars like Stephen Drew, Shane Victorino, Justin Upton, Evan Longoria, Coco Crisp, Pedro Alvarez, Alex Avila, and Carl Crawford swinging," said Louisville Slugger Director of Professional Baseball Chuck Schupp. "Those guys and their numerous teammates who chose Louisville Slugger in the 2013 Postseason knew they were getting the hardest bat available and a product they could trust."

Game-by-game, at-bat by at-bat tracking shows Louisville Slugger with more than 40 percent of the hitters on the final eight Postseason teams. The number two bat company had less than 30 percent. Ten other bat makers accounted for the remaining bats used. That means Louisville Slugger was once again the leading choice among Major League Baseball players in the Postseason. Louisville Slugger’s process for selecting the highest-grade wood, quality craftsmanship, innovation to make harder bats, and outstanding player service have made the storied company the number one bat in baseball for 129 years.

"We’re humbled and honored to hold the special place we do in baseball," Schupp said, "but we never take it for granted. We work hard every day to get better. We have some great things in the works for the 2014 season. We can’t wait for Spring Training when we can get our latest innovations in wood bats in the hands of Major League players."

Along with being the bat of choice by MLB players in the 2013 Postseason, Louisville Slugger was also the bat used in the regular season by MLB and AL home run champion Chris Davis, NL home run leader Pedro Alvarez, and NL batting title winner Michael Cuddyer.

Davis hit 51 home runs for the Baltimore Orioles with his M356C smith black, 35-inch, 32-ounce model Louisville Slugger, while Alvarez crushed 36 homers for the Pittsburgh Pirates with a C271C Gwynn finish model, 34-inch, 31-ounce Louisville Slugger. Michael Cuddyer lead the NL with a .331 batting average swinging his C360 double-dip flame-tempered, 34-inch, 32-ounce model Louisville Slugger for the Colorado Rockies.

"Like so many players through history, from Babe Ruth to Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams to Derek Jeter, Chris, Pedro and Michael left their marks on baseball with a Louisville Slugger," Schupp said. "They are part of a great fraternity of Slugger guys; players who’ve hit more home runs, had more RBIs and been part of more historic moments in baseball than all other companies combined."
