FASTPITCH STAR JENNIE RITTER JOINS LOUISVILLE SLUGGER
NATIONAL CHAMPION, ALL-AMERICAN, TEAM USA MEMBER
& TV ANALYST TO LEAD COMPANY’S FASTPITCH BUSINESS
LOUISVILLE, KY – (October 16, 2013) - Jennie Ritter is one of Fastpitch softball’s biggest names and most accomplished stars.
She’s done it all – won a national championship at the University of Michigan and has been named Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year in 2005. She received first team All-American honors, played for Team USA and earned USA Player of the Year honors. Ritter is the only female on Michigan’s list of Top Ten Wolverine Athletes of All Time. The list goes on and on, including her stellar work as a softball analyst for ESPN and the Big Ten Network.
Simply put, Jennie Ritter’s life is softball.
And now she’s taking her vast experience and knowledge of the game to Louisville Slugger where she’ll serve as the storied and innovative company's Business Manager for Fastpitch.
"By bringing Jennie Ritter on board, we’re adding one of the top people in all of Fastpitch softball to our Louisville Slugger team," said the company's President Bill Clark. "She’ll be an asset in so many ways, from product development to the relationships she has with players and coaches at all levels. Louisville Slugger is leading Fastpitch with innovation and technology, and Jennie will be at the forefront of our efforts."
Ritter will manage relations with Louisville Slugger’s 35 college and 10 sponsored travel programs. That includes 10 Division I college programs in the nation’s Top 25 as well as the national champion Firecrackers in travel ball. She’ll work closely with the research & development team on new products and guide the company’s Beautifully Powerful marketing campaign aimed at inspiring and motivating girls and women who play Fastpitch.
"The Louisville Slugger brand has been a mainstay throughout my journey in softball since I was a little girl," Jennie said. "Becoming a team member with so many intelligent and passionate people focused on the same goal seemed like a perfect fit as I continue my career in the game I love. I am proud to be a part of a brand that I can stand behind, knowing that they will always continue to improve upon their high quality products. I have no doubt that together we will take Louisville Slugger to new heights in the softball community."
Among her many accomplishments, Ritter is also the co-founder of iQ Fastpitch, a standardized skills testing protocol created to measure an athlete’s playing ability, athleticism and mental toughness as they work to improve and prepare to play in college. She will remain involved with iQ Fastpitch and will also continue as an analyst for the Big Ten Network.
"Jennie’s continued involvement in Fastpitch outside her responsibilities at Louisville Slugger will bring us a new level of insight and a different perspective," Clark said. "That’s exciting."
Ritter replaces Caroline Reddish who served as Fastpitch Business Manager over the past three years, helping to take Louisville Slugger back to the #1 position in bats behind the runaway success of Xeno. Caroline is moving into a new role as the Director of Retail Marketing for Louisville Slugger and will help drive Fastpitch, Baseball and Slow Pitch with the brand's most important retail partners.
