OKLAHOMA SOONERS CHOOSE LOUISVILLE SLUGGER® BATS,
Will Swing ATTACK, EXOGRID3, OMAHA BALANCED BBCOR

LOUISVILLE, KY – (January 22, 2013) - The University of Oklahoma is one of the most storied programs in college baseball history, boasting two national championships, 10 College World Series appearances, 35 NCAA Tournament bids and 22 conference championships.

Now, after several years with another company, Oklahoma has signed a five-year agreement to swing BBCOR bats from Louisville Slugger, baseball’s leading bat maker and the Number One Bat in Major League Baseball®.

"As we enter the 2013 season, we are extremely excited to be in partnership with Louisville Slugger," said OU Head Baseball Coach Sunny Golloway. "We had a lot of options; we chose Louisville Slugger."

The Sooners are expected to be an outstanding team once again in 2013. The University of Oklahoma baseball team enters the 2013 campaign ranked 14th in the nation, according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Fabulous 40 Pre-Season Poll. The Sooners have their sights set on returning to Omaha. When they do, they’ll be hitting line drives and home runs with the latest in bat innovation and technology; Louisville Slugger’s two-piece composite ATTACK, the hybrid EXOGRID3 and the ST+20 alloy OMAHA BALANCED.

UNC Baseball is first-class as well. The Tar Heels are a perennial participant in the NCAA Tournament and College World Series and a pre-season favorite to return to Omaha in 2013. When they do, they'll be hitting line drives and home runs with the latest in bat innovation and technology: Louisville Slugger's two-piece composite ATTACK, the hybrid EXOGRID3 and the ST+20 alloy OMAHA BALANCED.

"We’re with a company that matches our tradition," Coach Golloway says. "We’ll be swinging bats that are second to none."

The storied company, which is celebrating its 129th season in baseball, is honored to have OU Baseball join the Louisville Slugger family.

"We’ve worked with Coach Golloway in the past. His record speaks for itself. He’s a winner," says Louisville Slugger College Baseball Program Manager Kevin Uhrhan.

"Being in a great baseball conference like the Big 12, we recognize that Coach Golloway and his players had a lot of options when it came to choosing bats. That’s why we’re thrilled they chose us. It sends a strong message to baseball players everywhere. Champions swing Louisville Slugger."

Coach Golloway and the Sooners are fully aware that the current NCAA Champion Arizona Wildcats and other top programs swing Louisville Slugger bats.

"I talked with Coach Andy Lopez at Arizona and Coach Mike Martin at Florida State,” Golloway says. “They love Louisville Slugger for both the product and the service, and I’ve already seen that myself. Louisville Slugger’s staff worked with us on what bat will be best for each individual hitter. I feel like our student-athletes have the best product, and they have a chance to compete and win."

In addition to Arizona and Florida State, Oklahoma joins other top collegiate programs sponsored by Louisville Slugger including Stanford, North Carolina, Rice, Baylor and Louisville.
