"CATALYST™," LOUISVILLE SLUGGER®'S NEW X-1 HI-TECH COMPOSITE BAT
BRINGS GO! TO BASEBALL
LOUISVILLE , KY --- A catalyst on the baseball diamond makes the team Go!. One year after Louisville Slugger ® ’s high-tech composite Catalyst™ bat brought the Go! to the softball diamond, the new, X-1 composite technology Catalyst™ bat is giving baseball sluggers the ability to make their teams Go!
Whether it’s a line drive through the left side that brings in a run or a deep blast out of the park, the Catalyst™ changes the outcome of the game. The bat’s stiff handle and flexible barrel transfer more energy than the trendy, whippy-handle bats touted by other bat makers. The result is more consistent performance from the TPX Catalyst™ that translates to Go! on the field.
Available in both senior league and youth baseball models, the Catalyst™ uses new X-1 composite technology from Louisville Slugger ® TPX ® that can help any player be the catalyst for their team. Louisville Slugger engineers say the Catalyst bat will not only help players change the outcomes of games but it will change the way they think about baseball bats. Catalyst will no doubt change the mindset in senior league and youth baseball because of its optimum combination of performance and durability.
The Catalyst has been approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie Youth Baseball, Pony Baseball, AABC and USSSA. Its stiff handles prevent a loss of energy on off-sweet spot hits. Unlike flex-handle bats, a stiff handle bat allows batters to “feel the hit,” providing feedback to become a better hitter.
CATALYST’S T-1 TECHNOLOGY
Since turning its first bat in 1884, Louisville Slugger has set the standard for performance technology at every level of play. Today, Louisville Slugger is raising that standard with the most advanced bat technology it has introduced to date.
That technology has produced the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst. It is made from multiple layers of 100 percent aerospace grade graphite which are embedded in a specially designed toughened epoxy resin. Each layer is precisely positioned at an angle determined by Louisville Slugger’s exclusive computer-designed pattern. That’s what makes Catalyst perform so well and also gives it great durability.
Everything from the bat design to the equipment used to manufacture the bat was developed by the Louisville Slugger Composites Research & Development Lab. Controlling every aspect of design and manufacturing ensures that every bat is consistently produced to Louisville Slugger’s high quality standards.
The X-1 Catalyst comes in both senior league (SL72C) and youth league (YB71C and YB72C) models. The senior league minus 10 ounce (-10 oz.) model ranges from 27 to 32 inches. The youth model offers a minus 13 ounce (-13 oz.) in bats measuring from 28 to 32 inches and a minus 10 ounce (-10 oz) model ranging from 30 to 32 inches. All models of the Catalyst have a synthetic grip with a 7/8” standard handle and the new Louisville Slugger End Cap that is specially designed to allow maximum composite barrel flex.
