Louisville Slugger's NSA replacement program expired as of August 30, 2003. Unfortunately, as of September 1, 2003, we are no longer accepting any returns under this program.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER NSA REPLACEMENT PROGRAM:
Louisville Slugger is offering a replacement program solely for those who have had their bats recently banned by the NSA. We will allow customers to send in SB34 and SB103 Genesis with valid Proof of Purchase (within the one-year warranty), in exchange for a bat that will be legal for play. This program is in effect immediately and will conclude August 30, 2003.
In return you will receive one of our 2004 GEN1X with Scandium XXL’s and one of our Hoss Series Gloves. You will be able to choose from: the SB304 (Response XXL Balanced) or the SB404 (Response XXL End load), and either the TPS1300H or the TPS1400H (Hoss Series). These replacement bats will fulfill the warranty left from your Genesis. If the Genesis coming in for replacement has not been returned before then the replacement will fulfill the remainder of the warranty from the original date of purchase on the Genesis. However, since the Genesis is a one time replacement, if the incoming Genesis has been replaced once before, the replacement in this case will have no warranty as well.
- Customers should contact our Louisville Slugger Customer Service Department by telephone at 800-282-BATS (2287) and press option one to request a return authorization number.
- We will ask that you send the bat in to our California warehouse with your proof of purchase. Upon receiving your product, Louisville Slugger will first make sure the receipt is valid. Without valid proof of purchase no returns will be accepted.
- Availability will vary due to certifications of other associations. We are trying to produce 2004 products to comply with all major active associations.
The Genesis ban pertains to NSA play ONLY. The SB103 and SB34 are both still legal for play in ASA, USSSA and ISF. Please call Customer Service directly to file for these returns; we will not be able to set them up online due to the nature of this rare return process.
*Once again this return procedure will conclude on August 30, 2003.

BESR
FEBRUARY 6, 2004
The high school baseball season will soon be here. The NFHS has taken steps to clarify their baseball rules to minimize BESR confusion that always seems to arise with umpires, coaches, parents, players, and dealers. Please note the following information can be found at www.nfhs.org/rules-baseball.htm .
NFHS Baseball Rule 1-3-5 Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) Sticker Position Statement – For purposes of being able to identify non-wood baseball bats that meet the Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) performance standard, bats bearing the certification mark as a sticker or decal are deemed in compliance, as long as the bat manufacturer provided the sticker or decal to the bat owner.
2004 Baseball Rules Changes Press Release (June 25, 2003) – Although the rule requires non-wood bats to be labeled with a silk screen or other permanent certification mark, in some cases manufacturers have used a label, sticker or decal to denote BESR certification. However, effective January 1, 2006, no BESR label, sticker or decal will be permitted on any non-wood bat.
FEBRUARY 21, 2003
According to Elliot Hopkins, Baseball Rules Editor at the National Federation of State High School Associations, the NFHS ruling does allow BESR certified stickers to satisfy the marking requirement on BESR certified non-wood bats. The following Louisville Slugger models and lengths are BESR certified and should be allowed for high school play with the BESR certified sticker:
BB28 - TPX C555 Platinum - 31", 32", 33", 34"
BB30 - TPX Omaha Classic - 30", 31", 32", 32.5", 33", 34"
BB31 - TPX Laser - 30", 31"
BB32 - Powerized - 31", 32", 33", 34"
The initial production of these bats in 2001 did not have the BESR certification mark because it was not an NFHS requirement at that time. The BESR certified sticker was developed to mark those bats produced in the months prior to the NFHS announcement on July 27, 2001 requiring that all non-wood bats must have the BESR certification mark to be legal for high school baseball beginning with the 2003 season.
Should you encounter problems at the field level with a BESR certified Louisville Slugger bat being disallowed, you should contact your high school athletic department. The principal or athletic director can communicate with conference officials and umpires, or if necessary with the state association.
